Vision Statement
To foster a healthy, vibrant, inclusive community by promoting and practicing
respectful, informed and accountable decision-making through broad public
participation and partnerships based on integrity and dignity.
Purpose Statement
1. Sustain and enhance healthy communities within the City of Shoreline.
A healthy community is defined as consisting of stable neighborhoods, a healthy
environment, a prosperous small business environment and an economically viable city.
2. Foster public awareness and participation.
- Present complex issues in easily understood principles and values.
- Sponsor, promote or organize community events that involve and inform the public.
- Sponsor public debates during elections.
- Disseminate information via newspaper articles and commentary, public forums,
email and other vehicles as resources permit
3. Provide oversight and promote an independent citizens' forum for informed
discussion regarding policies and procedures within the City of Shoreline
4. Organize Citizen action groups to observe and report back on projects and
processes within the City of Shoreline
5. Convey to City officials in public forums, specific concerns of citizens.
6. Promote public awareness of the Washington State Growth Management Act, the
City of Shoreline Comprehensive Plan and Development Code, track City budget
issues along with other items and concerns.
