2009 Championship Tree Contest - Rules

When a tree is thought to be one of those on Candidate Tree List and is large or significant for its species (see the Eligible Trees listing for Championship category definitions), please complete the nomination form.

The tree must be identified as to being on public or private property.
      1a) The tree must be easily viewed from the public right of way
      or
      1b) The tree must be accessible by appointment and annual walking tour(s)
      and
      2) The private property owner must approve the nomination (ownership will be verified)

Nominated trees will be identified, measured and documented.

The person who locates and nominates a tree that is determined to be the Champion will receive an award with the height, circumference and canopy spread of the tree. (If more than one person nominates the tree, the first to nominate will be recognized.)

All who nominate a tree will receive recognition.

All students are encouraged to participate (age is no excuse; the adventurous of all ages are encouraged to join the hunt!)

All nominations must include a photograph (can not be returned) and be post marked no later than Labor Day 2009and addressed to:

      List of rules and deadlines for submission

      Links to native trees in Puget Sound with photos

      Nomination Form

      Camera / Photographer
      Approval of private property owner
