Families in Shoreline living without running water

Each month 20 or more households have their water shut off for non-payment. By the middle of the month 11 families still did not have water turned back on. Familes are having their electricity turned off in the middle of winter where they use electric heat. The City Human Services budget is not enough to prevent these dehumanizing conditons. In 2008 the budget calls for $25,000 for helping families with utility shutoffs

  • Reduction in crime, including drug use, gang activity. We need to have better analysis. 60% of arrests are Shoreline Citizens. Criminal Justice costs are the largest item in operations budget. Money spent on crime prevention and early intervention would save money in crimial justice costs
  • Community Policing, increase in traffic enforcement
  • Emergency Preparedness,
  • Create Strategy for affordable Housing. Increase outreach to low income seniors, families and new immigrants
